Greetings from Mongolia! With August comes the autumn, and it will be begin snowing again soon (late September). The summer went by quickly, but there is much to be THANKFUL for, as we’ve hosted 2 teams from America and made contact with many new Mongolian students.

First, we’re thankful for ENGLISH CAMP! As you know, 11 InterVarsity-USA students and 17 new Mongolian students participated in this summer’s English Camp. They spent time together learning English, sharing about culture, and going on picnics to the countryside. We even got to celebrate 4th of July together by eating “American” style hamburgers, and shooting off some fireworks which they bought from the local Black Market.

Many deep relationships were formed and many discussions about the Son occurred. One Mongolian student shared, “That Man sounds like an incredible person!” Another student, Chimgae, after several discussions with the Americans, decided to accept the Man as her Lord and Savior. We’re thankful for the love and servanthood displayed by the American students this summer. We are thankful for the work begun in these Mongolian students lives. We and our Mongolian staff are currently following up on these students.

We’re also thankful for our FOLLOW-UP EVENT (July 29-30) for the English Camp students. NINE of the 16 students returned (the other 7 went to the countryside) for our follow up and they heard teaching on 2 parables from Luke lead by Mesona and Nancy. Although there still isn’t much spiritual interest, they did enjoy being together again and going on a picnic together. One student, Dulguun, said “I can’t wait for the next time we get together. I’ll be there!” Tom also plans on playing basketball with 3 of these guys later this month.

We’re thankful for a SHORT-TERM TEAM from Vision Church in NYC, who we linked with World Vision-Mongolia. The stayed 10 hours (drive) outside of Ulaanbaatar, to build schools & homes for the poor, assist with a medical clinic, and help WV in their ministry to children for 2 weeks. We spent the last few days with them in UB, and were so encouraged by seeing these old friends.

Finally, we’re thankful for a time of REST. Tom was refreshed and encouraged by many fellow workers from 140 other countries at the IFES World Conference (in Amsterdam) in early July. Both of us then enjoyed a one-week vacation, including meeting Tom’s dad in Europe. We also spent a few days in Beijing, meeting with fellow workers and being so encouraged. Finally, back in Mongolia, we were glad for the last week of July, when we could prepare for this very busy August… (SEE BELOW)

——————– AUGUST REQUESTS [Feel Free To Print and Post] ————————

**AUG. 11-12: FCS2 STAFF RETREAT. We will be leading our 2 Mongolian staff (Chuka and Nymaa) and Hong Kong teammate (Mesona) in 2 days of prayer and meetings to set goals for the upcoming semester. Please ask for fruitful discussions, clear communication, and encouragement for our team. Hope that our relationships with each other would be strengthened.

**AUG. 14-16: FCS2 “BOOK OF HAGGAI” CAMP. Our pioneering team (7 of us) will go to the countryside for a 3-day camp for nourishment and spiritual preparation for this coming year. The theme is “Building His House.” Ask for wisdom and the ability to clearly communicate for Tom, who will be teaching 3 studies on Haggai.

**AUG. 18: MONGOLIAN STAFF SUPPORT-RAISING NIGHT. We’ve invited local churches, potential supporters, and friends of our 5 staff to hear about our ministry and catch our vision. Please hope that each of our staff gain at least 3 new long-term supporters, and that they would be encouraged during this evening.

**4. AUG. 21-23: FCS2 CHAPTER CAMP. Chapter Camp is a time for our team of 7 to plan logistics and details for the coming semester. We will decide who will lead what tasks, when certain activities will take place, etc. Please ask that we would hear His plan for us as a fellowship, and His calling for each of us individually. Lift up esp. Mesona, who will not be able to participate due to personal reasons, that He would unite us by spirit, even though she won’t be present.

**AUG. 29-30: ENGLISH CAMP FOLLOW-UP, PART 2. We will be hosting an overnight fellowship night for the 17 new Mongolian students who were part of this summer’s English Camp. They are eager to come together again, and we hope they will be equally eager to learn about spiritual things. Ask that these students would have open hearts as they come, and that the Lord would meet them powerfully during this overnighter.

**AUG. 25-SEPT. 5: GOOD NEWS CAMPUS OUTREACH. The week before classes and first week of classes are an opportune time to reach new students. Our FCS2 team will be going onto several different campuses — sharing the good news, doing surveys on student’s beliefs, and inviting them to check out FCS. Ask for the Lord to lead uss to the “right” students, for boldness in sharing, and for overwhelming numbers to express interest.

Thanks so much for your partnership! We miss you all!
