Prayer Requests for November 15-30
Samuel Escobar writes, “Mission exists because God is a missionary God who sends his people to be a blessing to all of humankind.” Recently, I’ve been reflecting on what it means for my InterVarsity staff to be campus missionaries, sent by our missionary God… How should we understand our mission? What exactly is our mission?
On Nov. 17-20, I will be leading my 30 campus missionaries and interns at our annual Regional Staff Conference. This year’s theme is “Our Missionary God”, and we will be studying the Gospel of Mark together. Please pray specifically for:
- My keynote addresses and learning from my gifted staff team. It will be my first time addressing and interacting with all of our region’s staff together at one location.
- The fulfillment of our conference goals: (1) To Understand the Underpinnings of Mission, (2) To Hear from Jesus about our Regional Mission, and (3) To Build Relationships with one another (esp. their new Regional Director).
On Nov. 16-17, immediately preceding the Regional Staff Conference, will be our annual Prospective Staff Weekend in St. Louis. We are expecting about 35 juniors, seniors and alumni who are interested in learning more about InterVarsity staff to attend. It is our biggest recruitment event of the year, led by my Regional Leadership Team. Please pray that God would clarify His calling to those attending, and remove barriers that prevent them from considering IV Staff. Pray for at least 10 hires to result from the event!
Finally, on Nov. 26-27, I will be traveling to Kansas for a supervisory visit with one of my staff and to speak at Kansas State University. The InterVarsity chapter there has been declining in recent years. Pray for revival in the chapter and for my talk to empower KSU students in their ministry on campus.
